Cynthia has spent the past 33 years in the Berkshires of Massachusetts. She holds B.F.A. in Painting and Printmaking from the University of Kansas and M.F.A. in Visual Arts/Sculpture from Vermont College of Fine Arts. Cynthia is an artist/teacher for the MFA programs at NHIA in Manchester, NH and Vermont College of Fine Arts, Montpelier, VT and considers teaching to be a privilege and a direct link to her own continuing development as an artist.

In order to pay her bills, Cynthia is a fabricator of custom textiles. Her workroom skills have always crossed into her studio. She is attracted to materials and takes pleasure in handling and pushing them; she wonders what else they can become? She enjoys being struck by a concept and then playing with it, wondering how the concept can become an object and visa versa.
